Welcome to the Faroe Islands!

Your driver will transfer you from the airport to the hotel.

Explore Tórshavn, one of the smallest and oldest capitals in the world, on this guided one-hour walking tour. Stroll through its charming narrow streets, past colorful turf-roofed houses, and discover the city’s rich history and unique culture.

Highlights include the historic Tinganes district, home to one of the world’s oldest parliamentary meeting places, and Vágsbotn harbor, where tradition meets modern life. Perfect for those looking to immerse themselves in the spirit of Tórshavn, this tour offers a compact yet enriching glimpse into the capital’s past and present.

The guide will collect you from your hotel and we will drive firstly through the streets of old Tórshavn to the historic village of Kirkjubøur,  the southernmost village on Streymoy and the country’s most important historical site with the ruins of the Magnus Cathedral from around 1300, the Saint Olav’s Church from 12th century and the old farmhouse Kirkjubøargarður from 11th century, which is still occupied by the same family for 17 generations.
You will then drive to the beautiful village of Saksun with its natural amphitheatre of cliffs, waterfalls and stunning nature. After exploring Saksun, the next stop is the village of Tjørnuvík, the most northerly village on Streymoy and now popular with surfers. Tjørnuvík also has one of the oldest Viking burial grounds where you can see the original burial stones. Enjoy a packed lunch whilst admiring the view of the “Giant and Hag” rock formations on the headland and telling you the legend behind the rocks. You will have time to take a stroll on the beautiful sandy beach.
It is time to the stunning drive up and past the highest point on the Faroe Islands and descending into the beautiful and picturesque village of Gjógv.  Plenty of time to explore this delightful idyll.  In the summer months (May – August, it is possible to glimpse Puffins nesting on the ledge above the gorge in Gjógv

  • Lobster Night – Enjoy the lobster evening where you’ll actively participate in preparing a gourmet lobster feast under the guidance of an expert. This unique experience offers an insider’s view of Faroese culinary traditions while savoring fresh, locally-sourced lobster. After the cooking, relax and enjoy your multi-course meal, perfectly paired with fine wines or premium beverages—a special evening combining luxury, learning, and exceptional flavors.

We will take a trip to Gásadalur on the island of Vágar which we will access by sub-sea tunnel (approx: 40 minutes drive). We will  pass through the mountain to the once isolated village of Gásadalur via another smaller tunnel. At Gásadalur we can take a stroll down to the iconic Mulafossur waterfall that empties its contents into the North Atlantic ocean 100’s of metres below. We also get a great view of the bird island of Mykines in the bay opposite, so plenty of photo opportunities.  We will then make a stop in the nearby picturesque village of Bøur, with its waterfall tumbling through the village. On the way back to Tórshavn we will also hike out to  Lake Sørvagsvatn and the Trælanípan “Slave Cliffs”.

A 15 minute drive to the start of our walking tour, past Mannafelsdalur, the site of a bloody Viking battle 700 years ago where mounds of grass still grow with a red hue, said to be the blood of the slain Viking rebels, while in the distance, the NATO radar listening station nestled high above the Faroese landscape reminds us of more modern conflict.
You will soon be greeted by panoramic and truly breathtaking views overlooking Vágoy and Trøllkonufingur and a landscape that would grace a Tolkien legend.
We then walk over the ridge to an open landscape with lake views at Vatnsdalur and down to Norðadalur, with spectacular views of the islands Hestoy and Koltur, where we will pause for Faroese delicacies and refreshments, before taking a short drive into the capital, Tórshavn. Here we will take a historic tour of the ancient and narrow cobbled streets that wind in and out of the traditional wooden, grass-roofed houses that truly define the Faroe Islands and on to Tinganes, to explore the ancient site and traditional red wood, grass-roofed buildings of the oldest parliament in the world. A truly iconic image of the heart of the Faroe Islands.

Hosted by the local farmer, this intimate experience invites you to savor a carefully curated menu inspired by traditional Faroese cuisine, crafted from locally-sourced ingredients.

As you dine in the centuries-old wooden hall—one of the oldest inhabited wooden houses in the world—the farmer will share captivating stories about the region’s history, culture, and daily life. Following the meal, retreat to the private residence of the farmer for a relaxing coffee and a glass of fine cognac, providing the perfect conclusion to a night of warmth, history, and culinary excellence.
