2 hours Town tour – A guided town tour where we walk to the cultural and historic highlights of Ilulissat and make several scenic photo stops as we go along. We will start at the historical Hotel Hvide Falk and on our way pass the Zion Church, the local fish market, the harbour and different great viewpoints among other places. All places, which are important to the city or have interesting stories. Learn the Story of the Old and Modern Ilulissat. You will learn the origin of Ilulissat, how the city has developed over the years, why the Inuits have been in the area for thousands of years, how important fishing is to the Ilulissat and much more. However, every tour is different and our experienced guides will try to tailor each tour to the interests and questions of the guests.

3 hours Kayak Experience – Kayaking in Ilulissat is, without a doubt, the best way to experience the incredible Ilulissat Icefjord. Being at the sea level, without any sound and just using your own body to paddle among icebergs, makes it an extraordinary way to discover the Unesco World Heritage site.

An afternoon or evening tour is special because of the lights. We often paddle out during the colorful sunset. The entire sky turns red, purple and orange, while the icebergs reflect the beautiful colours of the evening sun.

For more than 4,000 years, the Inuits have used the “qajaat” (traditional kayaks) for travelling and hunting in Greenland and especially in the area of Ilulissat. Our experienced guide will explain you about the amazing icebergs and the fascinating story of the original kayak, which was made from sealskin and wood.

6 hours Eqi Glacier Tour – The Eqi glacier, one of the biggest calving glaciers in Greenland. You will go in our fast boat with limited seats on this half-day tour, where you have to time to enjoy the trip and the glacier itself. It’s always a breathtaking experience when you approach the Eqi glacier by boat. The four-kilometer wide and 200-meter-tall wall of ice rises between the mountains on the beautiful Greenlandic coast. You can hear and see the massive calvings from far away, as huge chunks of ice break off and hits the water.

The Eqi glacier, also known as Eqip Sermia in Greenlandic, is located 70 kilometer north of Ilulissat and is one of the largest calving glaciers in all of Greenland. From here, there is easy access to the ice sheet, which is why it was used by some of the first polar explorers in Greenland to study the ice sheet.

The tour is roughly six hours. As a result, you have time to do other stuff in the same day. Due to the unpredictable conditions with ice in the Disko Bay, the amount of time it takes to reach the glacier varies from day to day. The captain will make sure that you get as much time as possible by the glacier within the timeframe of the excursion. The distance from where we can admire the glacier also varies depending on the amount of ice that have calved from the glacier front. Usually we will be within 2-3 kilometres from the glacier.

2 hours Sermermiut & Icefjord hike – A scenic hike to Sermermiut and the UNESCO World Heritage Site to enjoy the spectacular views of the icebergs from the Ilulissat Icefjord. You will start our hike at the old heliport and soon enter the UNESCO-area by the wooden path. Then we will continue to the famous ruins of Sermermiut.

For more than 4000 years, different Inuit-people settled the area of Sermermiut. The place has always been known for the huge amount of wildlife in area, and since the entire area is sheltered by massive hills, this makes Sermermiut the ideal place for a settlement in the rough and merciless nature of Greenland.

On our way, we will see the stone ruins of the old turf houses, which are located on top of the small hills in the area – all with a view to the icefjord. More than 250 Inuits lived in Sermermiut at its peak, and the last Inuits left the settlement around year 1850.

Enjoy the Incredible Views of the Icebergs

After a small hike further, you will reach Nakkaavik, which is the last stop on tour. From here, we will have the most incredible view of the Kangia, the Ilulissat Icefjord with its majestic and massive icebergs. The place is also famous for its tragic history, which your guide will tell you more about. We will do a stop here and your guide will serve hot coffee and tea while you enjoy and explore this amazing place. We will follow the same wooden path on our way back.

2.5 hours Midnight Icefjord Sailing – Boat trip to the famous Ilulissat Unesco Icefjord with our certified tour boat Pivik and trained guide. Experience one of the most beautiful places on earth. Ilulissat Icefjord, named “Ilulissat Kangerlua” in Greenlandic, is one of the most productive places of ice on Earth. To really see and understand the true beauty of the massive icebergs, you have to go in between them and see them from the waterside – which can only be done from a boat.

Experience the UNESCO World Heritage Site by Boat

All of the Ilulissat Icefjord is listed on the UNESCO’s World Heritage List. This is due to the large production of icebergs by the glacier Sermeq Kujalleq at the bottom of the Icefjord and the massive icebergs which are stuck a the end of it. No matter the weather, the icebergs are always amazing. The sun makes the ice shine and sparkle, while the blue colours of the ice really pops out when it’s cloudy. All out boat trips are in certified tour boats and with experienced guides. They will tell you about the ice and its importance for the area, while we closely pass the massive icebergs.

1,5h Meet the sleddogs – We will begin our excursion at Arctic Living where Flemming, a local musher, will meet us outside next to his dogs. He will tell us about raising the pups, the expeditions he has been on, and mushing itself. We’ll also be able to observe the dogs, but please remember that these are working animals and not pets – they are not meant for cuddling. This excursion does not include dog sled riding, but will, unlike a dog sled riding tour, give a very thorough and interesting look into the history and life of dog sled mushers in Greenland.

7 hours Oqaatsut Evening – Start by sailing from Ilulissat and passing the beautiful, drifting icebergs from the Ilulissat Icefjord on their path north of the city. When You arrive in Oqaatsut, you will be welcomed by the guide who will take you on a guided tour of the settlement. The guide will tell all about Oqaatsut history and the everyday life in the settlement.  After the guided settlement walk there is plenty of time to experience the nature around Oqaatsut. The settlement is filled with viewpoints and benches where you can enjoy the silence and beautiful nature.

The exploring of Oqaatsut ends at Restaurant H8 Explorer where will serve a delicious 3 course dinner. The restaurant lies in historical buildings with incredible view of the bay surrounding Oqaatsut.
After your dinner the boat will take you back to Ilulissat. A boat tour in the evening light; a perfect way to end your trip to Oqaatsut.
